AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: July 14, 2025 <br />Item: 10 <br />Title: Orono Fire Department Relief Association Legal and Audit Fee Approval <br />Presenter: Adam Edwards, City Administrator / Engineer <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this item is to authorize the expenditure of city funds to cover the OFD Relief <br />Association's legal and audit expenditures related to the dissolution of the association. <br />2. Background: <br />At the April 28th council meeting, the City Council approved Resolution 7580 terminating the <br />employment of the city's Paid -On -Call Firefighters. Further, the council authorized the payment of <br />$170,000 to cover the city's retirement fund liability to the firefighters. The termination of the <br />POC firefighter necessitates the dissolution of the relief association. The dissolution process <br />involves legal and audit expenses which the relief association is requesting the city cover (Exhibit <br />A). <br />3. Cost: <br />The estimated cost for the audit and legal fees is $10,000. These are unbudgeted expenses and <br />will be charged to the Fire Operating Budget. <br />4. Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the approving the payment for legal and audit fees for the dissolution of the <br />Orono Fire Relief Association of an amount not to exceed $10,000. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Move to approve payment of legal and audit fees for the dissolution of the Orono Fire Relief association <br />of an amount not to exceed $10,000. <br />Exhibits <br />A.
