� A RESOLUTION RECOGIVIZING <br /> O�¢�1�tO ROBERT SEARLES <br /> FOR HIS VISIONARY LEADERSHIP <br /> � � AND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE CITY <br /> � <br /> ��t9kE88�¢�G <br /> RESOLUTION NO.� 5183 <br /> WHEREAS,Robert Searles played a key role in establishing a vision for <br /> Orono that has guided the development of Orono for the past 45 years; and <br /> WHEREAS,Robert Searles has been a leader in protecting Lake <br /> Minnetonka as a unique and special natural and recreational resource; and <br /> WHEREAS,His vision for Orono grew out of his concern for protecting <br /> Lake Minnetonka; and <br /> WHEREAS,Through his distinguished service and visionary leadership, <br /> Robert Searles promoted the vision of preserving the rural character of Orono as a <br /> way to protect Lake Minnetonka; and <br /> WHEREAS, Robert Searles served as the Chair of the Planning <br /> • Commission from 1958 to 1961, as a member of the City Council from <br /> 1963 to 1973, and as Mayor from 1974 to 1976; and <br /> WHEREAS,His leadership contributions have been memorialized <br /> through the Robert Searles award,which is given to Orono citizens who have <br /> provided exemplary service and leadership to the City. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orono City Council <br /> does hereby recognize the outstanding contributions to the City made by Robert <br /> Searles through his visionary leadership and distinguished service. <br /> Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting <br /> held this 14th day of June, 2004. <br /> ATTEST: <br /> il'.
