THE PLANNING PROCESS <br />The City of Orono tree management planning process will be focused on utilizing currently available <br />budget and staffing resources to develop a condensed collaborative planning process that will set -up <br />Orono’s tree planning for future success. <br />• (1) a quick, yet thorough snapshot of the current program and resources; <br />• (2) bringing together City staff and leadership through a collaborative planning process that begins to <br />build an understanding of the current program and team and sheds light on the opportunity for this team <br />to work together toward future success, in-turn benefiting the health and resilience of the city’s natural <br />resources; <br />• (3) envisioning a future where Orono can establish a vision, that plans for, plants and grows a thriving <br />community forest that delivers clean air, clean water, vibrant streetscapes, parks and public spaces that <br />contribute quality to life for all of Orono. <br />Key Goals & Objectives <br />• Establish a clear understanding of the current status of Orono’s tree inventory. <br />• Facilitate a planning process that builds a shared vision for the future Orono’s tree planning team and <br />City Council. <br />• Develop a collaborative roadmap for the future of Orono’s Tree Management Program in alignment with <br />the city’s Mission and Values. <br />267
