CITE' of ORONO
Punt Office Wx fi+I*Cry %tat liay, Knne.ota5.`iWoMunicipal Office
On the Nortt. Shore of Lake Minnetonka
0
August 28, 1965
Mr. ;.erry Ross
Dakota Rail
Box 306
Milbank, S.D. 57252
Dear Mr. Ross:
I have been advised by R.H. Nelson of Burlington Northern
Railroad that Dakota Rail will be responsible for the operation
of the Hutchinson Line. You were designated as the specific
contact person for the railroad company.
The City of Orono has received complaints concerning the
condition of the railroad right-of-way adjacent to the rear yards
of specific homes along Crystal Bay Road within the City of
Orono. Specifically, a neighbor has complained of piles of
debris and tree trimmings left within your ric.ht-of-way that
would endanger or create hazards for his property. I have
enclosed a plat map that has been marked to locate the specific
areas referenced to by complaintant.
The City has inspected the area and can confirm numerous
piles of clippings and tree trimmings. We have also observed the
following within the railroad's right-of-way:
1. Sheds located partially or totally within your right-of-
way
2. Fencing
3. Piles of firewood
4. Garages partially within right-of-way
5. Private drives
Please advise the City if you have plans to deed easements
or lease that portion of the right-of-way for these various
improvements. Many of these improvements are classified by Orono
Code as accessory structures requiring a principal structure to
permit their legal use.
BUILDING R /.(t'*IN(; 473.7357 WORK% - 473 7151)
ASSI SSING
