Date: May 19, 2025 Item: 7.1 <br />Presenter: Matt Karney, Planner <br />Section: Old Business <br /> <br />Title: LA25-000014, Revisions to City Code regarding the Keeping of Animals in <br />Residential Districts (Matthew Karney) <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />Discuss proposed changes to the City Code regarding Animals. <br />2.Background: <br />On February 18, 2025, the Planning Commission reviewed a Conditional Use Permit application, <br />LA24-000066, for the keeping of farm animals (pigeons) on a property within the LR-1A zoning <br />district. In their recommendation to the City Council, Planning Commission included a motion to <br />research standards and language for potential text amendments regarding the keeping of animals in <br />residential districts. <br /> <br />On April 21, 2025, Staff presented research into potential text amendments for the keeping of <br />animals for the Planning Commission to discuss. The Planning Commission provided Staff <br />direction to draft proposed regulations to clarify the animal definitions and consider allowing <br />chickens on smaller lots throughout the city.
