A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO JAMES VAN EYLL <br />FOR 18 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE <br />RESOLUTION 7591 <br />WHEREAS, Chief James Van Eyll set the example for his fellow public servants with his <br />positive attitude, calm demeanor,and service focus mindset as the Orono Fire Chief in; and <br />WHEREAS,James Van Eyll was appointed Fire Chief of Orono in December 2022, <br />following 15 years of dedicated service to the community as the Fire Chief of Long Lake; <br />and <br />WHEREAS,James Van Eyll led the efforts to stand up a new highly professional and <br />modern department based on a hybrid organizational model that integrates volunteer (paid- <br />on-call), part time and full-time firefighters. He championed the creation of a highly effective <br />duty crew program, ensuring the provision of comprehensive emergency services to the <br />community.Through his leadership, he built a team of dedicated firefighters, united by <br />shared values and a strong commitment to public safety;and <br />WHEREAS,under James Van Eyll’s leadership, a diverse team of firefighters from varying <br />backgrounds and experiences came together under a shared mission and set of values, <br />forming a highly effective emergency management team. His ability to unite individuals <br />with different perspectives into a cohesive and mission-driven unit was key to the <br />department’s success.;and <br />WHEREAS,James Van Eyll’s 18 years of service have been marked by professionalism, <br />expertise, and an unwavering dedication to delivering the highest quality emergency services <br />to the city and its residents.; and <br />RESOLVED, that the Orono City Council, staff, and residents express their deepest <br />appreciation and gratitude to James Van Eyll for his dedicated service to the community as <br />Fire Chief of Orono, Minnesota. <br />Adopted by the City Council of Orono, Minnesota at a regular meeting held on May 12 2025. <br />ATTEST:CITY OF ORONO <br />____________________________________________________ <br />Christine Lusian, City Clerk Bob Tunheim, Mayor <br />339
