Bernhardson, City Administrate <br />DATS: November 21, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: Assessing Services 1990-1991 <br />Attachment: A, Request for proposal Dated 11/11/89 <br />ISSUE - Informational update on progress to^> ards selection of a <br />new contract assessor, <br />INTRODUCTION - In a response to Attachment B the City had <br />received proposals from four parties actively interested in <br />providing services. Based on the proposals the City did <br />interview three individuals whose qualifications in their <br />proposals speared to meet the City's needs. <br />DISCUSSION - The current contract Assessor Rolf Erickson assisted <br />in interviewing each of the individuals the later part of last <br />week and staff will be conducting background checks on each of <br />the candidates. <br />The criteria for selection will be as follows: <br />1. Services provided. <br />2. Customer relations skills. <br />3. Cost of service. <br />4. Qualifications. <br />It should be noted that all three proponents have submitted <br />proposals within budget and would be less than if the City were <br />to provide assessing services on an in-house basis. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1, Accept information <br />'2. Table until staff presents a recommendation at the 12/11/89 <br />meeting. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that this item be tabled until the December <br />11th meeting to allow for further discussion with the prospective <br />contractors and further background investigation on their <br />performance to determine compatibility of their past experience <br />with Orono's needs. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by , seconded by __, that the Council <br />table consideration of this item until its December 11, 1989 <br />meeting.
