Budget Guidelines 1990 (REVISED) Dated 6/20/89 <br />ISSUE - Presentation of revised guidelines as a result of the <br />(Governor's veto of the tax bill. <br />INTRODUCTION - The previously submitted guidelines had been <br />prepared prior to the veto. While no one is yet certain as to <br />the most appropriate to proceed given the confusion at the state <br />level and possible special session, I hope to get greater <br />direction at the League of Minnesota Cities Legislative Wrap-up <br />next week. <br />ALTERNATIVES - <br />1. Accept the revised Information. <br />2. Discuss all issues upon desires. <br />3. Table for further word on the property tax direction. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is after discussing any issues regarding the <br />upcoming budget, recommended that it be tabled to 7/10/89 for <br />further Informational updates. In order for the City to conform <br />to the 1988 tax law truth in taxation requirements (which neither <br />the counties or state could meet) the Council may have to adopt <br />a maximum tax levy by Augusr 1st which can later be revised <br />downward prior to October. <br />cc: All Dept.
