Minutes <br />Planning Commission Regular Meeting <br />Monday, Apri121, 2025, 6:00 PM <br />City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br />Jarnot moved, Prchal seconded, to approve LA25-000010, 2625 North Shore Drive, Variances. <br />VOTE: Ayes: 6, Nays 0. <br />6.2. LA25-000011, REHKAMP LARSON ARCHITECTS, 3275 CARMAN ROAD, VARIANCES. <br />The Planning Comnssion is requested to review the Staff report, receive a presentation, and discuss and <br />approve the variance requests for Average Lakeshore Setback, 7546ot Lakeshore Setback and New <br />Hardcover within the Lakeshore Setback to rework the front porch, modify the back deck, extend the roof <br />to improve drainage, and add a patio. The proposal reduces the total hardcover. <br />The Planning Commission discussed the item and asked questions of staff and the applicant, Angela <br />Wingate, Rehkamp Larson Architects, Mimieapolis. <br />Chair Bollis opened the public hearing at 6:24 p.m. <br />There were no public comments. <br />Chair Bollis closed the public hearing at 6:24 p.m. <br />Commissioners called the changes thoughtfiil, better for the view of neighbors, and noted the reduction of <br />hardcover <br />Prchal moved, Weltzin seconded, to approve LA25-000011, 3275 Carman Road, Variances as <br />applied. VOTE: Ayes: 6, Nays 0. <br />6.3. LA25-000012, PKA ARCHITECTURE, 1205 TONKAWA ROAD, AVERAGE LAKESHORE <br />SETBACK, LAKE SETBACK VARIANCES AND PLUMBING IN AN ACCESSORY <br />BUILDING. <br />The Planning Conunission is requested to review the Staff report, receive a presentation, and discuss and <br />approve the application for variances to reconstruct a legal non -conforming outbuilding. The footprint and <br />volume of the building would be the same. Staff reconunends approval as applied, including restrictive <br />covenants for the use of the accessory building. <br />The Plamling Commission discussed the item and asked questions of staff and the applicant, Andrew <br />Edwins, PKA Architecture, Minneapolis. <br />Chair Bollis opened the public hearing at 6:41 p.m. <br />There were no public comments. <br />Chair Bollis closed the public hearing at 6:41 p.m. <br />Conunissioners cited a letter from the DNR addressing the plumbing as concerning, and also expressed <br />concerns about the plan to have the roof a foot higher because it would be necessary to raise the floor a <br />foot.
