RESOLUTION #587 <br />• Whereas, the City of Orono supports the intent of <br />the open meeting law which is to have the Public business conducted openly <br />so that the public can be informed of the decisions and actions being <br />taken, and <br />Whereas, nevertheless there are certain matters of a confidential nature which <br />may not be in the public interest at a particular time to disclose publicly, <br />an d <br />Whereas, the Attorney General has rendered an opinion which appears to be <br />more restrictive than the legislature intended. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Orono <br />respectfully urge the Minnesota State Legislature to consider <br />changes to the open meeting law which would provide for amendments to <br />the law as proposed in the draft legislation submitted by the League of <br />Minnesota Municipalities, and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that cobies of this resolution be transmitted to <br />the Governor of the State of Minnesota, Members of the State Legislature <br />and the League of Minnesota Municipalities. <br />Adopted by the Village Council of the Village of Orono, Minnesota <br />at a regular meeting held April 8, 1975 <br />Robert L.
