ti <br />RESOLUTION NO. 576 <br />A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS OF THE <br />CITY OF ORONO FOR THE OPERATION OF SNOWMOBILES. <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 54 of the Municipal Code of the <br />City of Orono prohibits snowmobiling on certain areas unless <br />specifically authorized by Council resolution, and <br />WHEREAS, The Council has reviewed the recommendations <br />of staff and the requests by the public, and <br />WHEREAS, The Council desires to promote recreational <br />activities on areas in Orono where compatible with adjoining <br />property uses, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br />• 1. That snowmobiling will be allowed subject to the <br />other provisionsof Chapter 54 on the portion of the Luce Line <br />Trail commencing at Stubb's Bay Road and terminating at the <br />western boundary of Orono until further notice. <br />2. That snowmobiling will be allowed subject to the <br />other provisions of Chapter 54 on a designated lane, to be <br />located on the eastern outside bank within the right of <br />way of Stubb's Bay Road commencing at the Luce Line Trail <br />and terminating at the northern shore of Stubb's Bay of <br />Lake Minnetonka, until further notice provided that: <br />(a) Snowmobiling will be allowed on this designated <br />lane between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 11:00 P.M. <br />and any operation may be only on the eastern side <br />of the roadway and the snowmobile lane nearest the <br />lane of the roadway shall be in the same direction <br />as the highway traffic in the neare"st:`I:ane. <br />(b) That the staff shall clearly mark the boundaries <br />of the two snowmobile lanes and shall post, at all <br />intersections of a roadway and the snowmobile lanes, <br />adequate warning signs and stop signs. <br />
