ORDINANCE NO SECOND SERIES <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AN INTERIM <br />ORDINANCE TO IMPLEMENT A TEMPORARY MORATORIUM <br />ON ACCEPTING AND CONSIDERING PERMITS <br />FOR ACCESSORY STRUCTURES <br />The City of Orono ordaiiiS as follows: <br />Section 1. <br />In 1987, the City Council authorized the Planning <br />Commission to undertake a study of the accessory structures <br />section of the zoning code. The Planning Commission held <br />hearings and discussions during 1987 and 1988 and has <br />recommended certain ordinance revisions. The City Council <br />seeks to enact a temporary moratorium related to accessory <br />structures in order to protect the integrity of the planning <br />process while it considers adopting or amending relevant <br />official land use controls. <br />Section 2. Restrictions. <br />During this moratorium, the City will: <br />(a) Not accept any applications for land use or other <br />approvals for accessory structures; and <br />(b) Not grant any land use or other approvals for <br />accessory structures for applications submitted <br />after May 8, 1989. <br />Thcise restrictions will not apply to any building under <br />500 square feet where the total coverage of the lot is under <br />the proposed total set forth in the proposed ordinance related <br />to accessory structures, attached hereto. <br />Section 3. Termination. <br />This ordinance shall terminate 90 days from the date of <br />publication or immediately upon adoption of an Accessory <br />Structure Ordinance.
