STATEMENT B................................... 44% <br />NEITHER ......................................... 47% <br />DON'T KNOW/REFUSED ............................ 5% <br />Forty-four percent express a preference for locating these homes across the city, even in their <br />neighborhood. <br />"Statement B" is stated more frequently by: <br />• those contacting City Hall <br />• those somewhat informed about city government and its activities <br />• owners of residences on less than one acre <br />• owners of homes valued between $600,000 and $1 million <br />• those connected to city sewer <br />• Precinct Three residents <br />"Neither" is reported more often by: <br />• those not too or not at all informed about city government and its activities <br />• owners of residences on one to two acres <br />• owners of homes valued between $600,000 and $1 million <br />• those with septic tanks <br />• Precinct Four residents <br />Summary and <br />Conclusions <br />When evaluating types of development opportunities, ranging from residential and commercial to <br />retail and recreational, on only two types do a majority of residents not think there are "enough" <br />already in the city. One is "dining establishments," where 46% feel there are "too few," and 43% <br />see "about the right amount." The other is "full-time job opportunities," where 41 % think there <br />are "about the right amount" and 36% see "too few." But, significant percentages of respondents <br />think there are "too few" of several other types of development: "starter homes for young <br />families" and "senior housing, each at 28%; "affordable housing," at 29%; "public transit <br />opportunities," at 40%; and "retail shopping and service opportunities," at 41%. Twenty-eight <br />percent of respondents would also like to see a "grocery store" built along Highway 12. <br />Only 34% see the reinvestment, redevelopment, and beautification of Navarre as either a "top <br />priority" or a "high priority." Forty-six percent regard it as a "medium priority," while 18% think <br />the redevelopment of Navarre is either a "low priority" or "no priority at all." <br />Residents significantly the current pattern of development, placing higher density development <br />near Lake Minnetonka and lower density development in Northern Orono.
