Light Rail Corridor Residents were asked: Would you favor or oppose the City of Orono funding lobbying efforts to establish a light rail corridor con- necting Downtown Minneapolis with Hopkins, Minne- tonka, Wayzata, and Orono? Forty-nine percent commute outside the city limits. Nine percent are currently not working, and 25% are retired. Sixty-nine percent rate the ease of their commute to and from work positively, while 31 % rate it negatively. Only four percent of the community uses public transportation. By a 52%-38% margin, residents favor the City of Orono developing expanded automobile traffic corridors for commuter traffic moving within and through the community. By a 77%-16% margin, residents also favor the City pursuing the construction of an expanded park -and -ride lot in the Navarre area or in northern Orono, as well as establishing more frequent bus service between the lot and Downtown Minneapolis. Finally, by a 73%-20% majority, respondents favor the City funding lobbying efforts to establish a light rail corridor connecting Downtown Minneapolis with Hopkins, Minnetonka, Wayzata, and Orono. 100
