^-23“89 <br />Orono City Council <br />Crystal Bay, MN. <br />Subject: ReneHal of Employment Contract for <br />City Administrator <br />Dear Mayor and CounciInerobers: <br />Back in February I wrote to you and requested a review of <br />the Orono Police Department. Due to what I perceive to be <br />little interest on beSa.’.f of the City, the Mayor, and most <br />of the Council, I wrote a letter to a local paper. <br />Since then, I have received many telephone calls from other <br />interested citizens. I have also had conversations with <br />officl^ilB from neishboring cities concerned with Orono's <br />administration and its effect on their cities. <br />I am certain that the City Administrator is aware of my <br />concei ns, but the only official response I received was a <br />phone call from the police chief. He reviewed irrelevant <br />issues, like speed postings on County Road IS, etc. It has <br />been disappointing to roe that the City Administrator has not <br />had enough interest to call me. Residents of Orono should <br />be able to express valid concerns and should be able to <br />expect the courtesy of a response. <br />It appears one of two conditions exist: <br />First, ihat the concerns are valid and Mr. Bernhardson <br />would like to "sweep it under the rug". This would <br />be extreniely irresponsible. <br />Second, that he doesn’t know what is going on or is not <br />interested in the concei'n» of the people for whom <br />he should be working. <br />I understand that the renewal of Mr. Bemharoson * s <br />employment contract is under consideration.
