The mean sea level in use in the <br />United States is currently referred to as the North American Datum <br />and agencies of the federal and lower governmental units have <br />established a network of reference points of known elevation known <br />as bench marks. The Hennepin County Highway Department furnished <br />us with a mark or reference point of known elevation. This was the <br />top of the fire hydrant on the South side of County Road Number 15 <br />and 100 feet more or less west of the center line of Dunwoody <br />Avenue (elevation - 941.936) <br />The City of Orono Engineering Department informs us that the 100 <br />year frequency of return flood at that address reaches an elevation <br />of 931.50. This number is usually arrived at through the keeping <br />of records at stream gauging stations and statistical analysis of <br />these records over the years. The scope of the services which we <br />contracted were those of determining the floor elevation and do not <br />include calculating and verifying the flood level. While we have <br />inquired of the city and used our best efforts to relay the <br />information from their records to you, we make no representation <br />that we have independently determined the flood level or that the <br />government has correctly determined the flood level or even that we <br />havS cotrectiy relayed that information. We encourage you to <br />VSfify thitt number to your own satisfaction by communicating with <br />eity engineering department or such other sources as may be <br />available to you.
