P, <br />RESOLUTION #434 <br />A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ENTER INTO A <br />JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT TO FORM A MUNICIPAL INFORMATION SYSTEM <br />WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Orono has determined <br />that there is a need by municipalities in the State of Minnesota for a <br />coordinated approach to meeting municipal'needs for electronic data process- <br />ing; and <br />WHEREAS, it is determined by this Council that the development of <br />a data processing system, as opposed to individual applications of comput- <br />erized data processing, is an objective -of this and other municipalities; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the cost of developing and maintaining such a system is <br />excessive for any one municipality; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Village of Orono to utilize an <br />integrated data processing system as and when it becomes operationally <br />feasible; and. <br />WHEREAS, Section 471.59, Minnesota Statutes, authorizes joint <br />exercise by two or more public agencies of any power common to them; and <br />M. <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Village of Orono to jointly <br />provide for and maintain. a data processing system for mutual advantage <br />and cercern; <br />NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the <br />Village of Orono that it hereby expresses the intent to enter into a <br />joint powers agreement to form a cooperative municipal data processing <br />system; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Village Administrator is hereby <br />appointed the representative of this municipality to'serve on a Joint <br />Powers Drafting Committee. <br />IT IS FURTHER UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED that this is resolution of <br />intent only and does not commit the Village of Orono to any expenditures <br />of money. <br />ADOPTED BY THE Village Council of the Village of Orono, Minnesota, <br />at a regular meeting held February 28, 1972. <br />Louis B. 0 er auser, Mayor <br />Attest. �� T <br />-=a p .I/Martin;'ler - mi.nistrator <br />
