Septic System Design
Additional Information
Property
Owner: Tim Skelly - Parcel #1
Description of Waste Water Treatment System
This site has an existing on -site sewage treatment system which was installed in the 60's - 7o's.
A compliance inspection was performed and it has deemed that the old system doesn't meet
soil separation and the tanks do no pass either. The old tanks must be dug up, pumped,
abandonened, filled and new tanks and main line installed.
This new on -site sewage treatment system is designed for a Type 1, 5 bedroom home, Type 1
system in accordance with the MPCA Chapter 7080 and local ordinances.
The soils on this site are loamy. The periodically saturated soils were located after going to a
depth of 14 and 17 inches. This will lead 12 inches of usable soil underneath the mound with a 2
foot sand Gft, Therefore providing a 36 Inch separation for the treatment of effluent above the
periodically saturated soils.
Two 1250 gallon tanks will need to be installed along with a 1500 gallon pump tank to lift the
sewage to the treatment area. The power supply and switches must be located outside the
manhole and pumping chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A warning device must also be
installed with audiovisual alerts. The supply line must have drain back to the pumping chamber.
From the pump tank sewage will be pumped 33 feet to the mound. There will be 3- 2" pipes
each 3 feet apart inside the 10' by 62.5' rockbed. The mound will have a total footprint of 64' by
103' with 10 percent slope underneath it.
Ali tank manholes should be brought to grade upon completion of tank installation, inspection
{ports for the distribution boxes should also be at grade upon completion.
Keep all vehicles and construction equipment off septic area. Rutting and/or compacting the
soil will change the percolation rates and may lead to system failure.
Homeowner to verify all property lines.
Elevations are referenced to Bench Mark on the blacktop next to the door leading to the
downstairs.
Installer to verify all elevations, dimensions, and ensure proper fall to pipes. Pitch pump
chamber outlet to ensure complete drain back to pump chamber.
Establish turf to prevent erosion and freezing.
Ends Sup lic Service, LIC, 2010 Territorial Road I ph. 783-428-4+485 or infoftendeseW c.com 1
