AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: March 24, 2025 <br />Title: LA25-000009, 3245 Wayzata Boulevard West, Interim Use Permit - <br />Resolution 7565 <br />Presenter: Matt Karney, Planner <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br />Item: 6 <br />Purpose: <br />The applicant requests an Interim Use Permit for equipment storage and staging associated with a <br />utility project in public rights -of -way. <br />2. MN§15.99 Application Deadline: <br />The application was made on February 18, 2025 and deemed complete on February 28, 2025. <br />Following the 60-day review period this application expires on April 29, 2025. <br />3. Background: <br />The applicant requests an Interim Use Permit (IUP) to utilize an approximately 5-acre portion of a <br />25.8-acre parcel at 3245 Wayzata Blvd W for staging and storage to support a utility fiber project. <br />The duration of this IUP is to run through the end of December 2026. The materials to be stored <br />on the property will be reels of conduit and fiber, storage containers for smaller equipment, and <br />trash containers. The use of the property will be during the hours of 7AM and 7PM, with the <br />applicant and its contractor accessing the site with a rock construction entrance to pick up and <br />deliver materials as needed. Site work is to commence following approval of the IUP and erosion <br />control measures will be installed on the site. The area subject to the IUP will be adequately <br />maintained and will be reverted to its present conditions within 6 months of the end of the IUP's <br />timeline. <br />Link to Meeting Packet <br />4. Planning Commission Vote and Comment: <br />On March 17, 2025, the Planning Commission held a public hearing and discussed IUP <br />application. The Planning Commission discussed the project and provided comments on the <br />location site set up. The Commission also noted the requirements for obtaining other government <br />agency permits (Hennepin County and MCWD. Following the public hearing, the Commission <br />voted 5-0 to recommend approval of the interim use permit as recommended by staff. <br />Link to Meeting Video <br />5. Public Comment: <br />No public comments have been received. <br />6. Staff Recommendation: <br />Planning Staff recommends approval of the IUP application with a completion date of December <br />2026. <br />34 <br />
