City of Long Lake Letter Dated 2/10/89 <br />I3SUB - Determination of response to Attachment A. <br />INTRODUCTION - In May of 1988 the City of Orono, through its <br />Mayor, extended its willingness to cooperate with the City of <br />Long Lake in solving several problems of mutual concern. This <br />resulted in meetings with a mediator in both October and December <br />with positive results being generated from those. <br />DISCUSSION - In recent weeks however, there has been a change in <br />the tenor of cooperation as Orono has waited for a response from <br />Long Lake to set up the joint meeting to further pursue this. <br />This change as noted in Attachment A indicates that the City of <br />Long Lake desires 15 units on the property and under their <br />jurisdiction. If they will not get that they will proceed to <br />file for detachment and annexation. <br />ALTERNATIVES - <br />1. Transmit a letter. <br />2. Choose not to transmit any response. <br />3. Table for further discussion. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that Council transmit a <br />letter to Long Lake City Council and additionally release it to <br />the press. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by _, seconded by _, that the Council <br />authorize transmission of a letter to the City of Long Lake in <br />response to Attachment A.
