MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 278 <br />HELD ON JANUARY 9, 1989 <br />'^2 5/989 <br />The regular meeting of the School Board of Orono Independent School District No. <br />278 was held on Monday, January 9, 1989. <br />Present:Dave McKown <br />Don Anderson <br />Kitty Crosby <br />James Franklin <br />John Maresh <br />Lucie Taylor <br />Thomas Mich <br />William FenhoU <br />© <br />UPON MOTION by Kitty Crosby, seconded by Don Anderson, the consent agenda was <br />approved as follows: <br />- approved the minutes of the December 12, 1988 regular meeting; <br />- approved the following variance requests: <br />Heather Winters, grade 12, to attend Westonka Schools; Angela House, <br />grade 11, to attend Wayzata Schools; Todd Huber, grade 11, to attend <br />Orono Schools; <br />- accepted the resignation of Kent Winter, high school principal, effective <br />July 1, 1989; <br />- accepted the resignation of Marlene C. Dravlow effective immediately; <br />- approved the Treasurer's Report for November, 1988; <br />- apprcved the bills as covered by vouchers 061212 through 061297 (061298 <br />through 061898 held for manual checks) and 061899 through 061967 and <br />060567 through 060685. <br />UPON NOTION BY Kitty Crosby, seconded by Lucie Taylor, the Board of Education <br />expressed appreciation to Dr. Kent Winter for the years of dedicated <br />leadership/service to Orono High School stating that because of his leadership, <br />Orono High School has always been held In high regard. <br />The Board expressed best wishes to Dr. Winter In his retirement and requested <br />that a letter of appreciation be sent to him on behalf of the Board of <br />Education. <br />Dr. Mich reminded the Board that on January 11 the AMSD Legislative Dinner would <br />be held In St. Paul; that on January 20 the faculty/staff luncheon will be held <br />in the high school cafeteria honoring the following twenty-five year employees: <br />Dave Aldrich, Ron Gilbert, Jim Hall and Frank Schulz; that on January 20 the <br />MSBA Convention will begin; that on February 11 the Metropolitan School Boards <br />Academy will hold a seminar for school board members. <br />Dr. Mich provided Information to the Board reg <br />activities that are taking place In Orono and enct <br />ticipate If possible. <br />the staff development <br />d Board members to par- <br />Or.
