I have <br />appreciated the opportunity to serve on metropolitan level committees ar <br />commissions In the past, and believe strongly that the CoimcJf <br />representative should possess both knowledge of our communities and <br />exper lence In public service. <br />1 have worked as the planner for the city of Medina for almost nine <br />years, and have extensive knowledge of, and experience In, solid waste <br />Issues. Medina has the only operational landfill In Hennepin County, and Is <br />also the site of a proposed municipal solid waste compost facility. <br />I have been, and continue to be, closely involved In Issues pertaining to <br />Lake Minnetonka, and clearly recognize the regional significance of this <br />valuable natural resource. <br />1 have received a Metropolitan Council grant to study the Impact of <br />regional facilities on host communities. As a member of the League of <br />Minnesota Cities Planning Committee, 1 Initiated and outlined an <br />informational session regardlng^compensatlon for host communities. <br />1 perceive a genuine need for metropolitan government to ^^unctlon as a <br />planning and cc ■ lating agency for the cities and counties of the region, <br />and look rorward to the opportunity to serve District 13.
