AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: March 10, 2025 <br />Title: Construction of Communications Specialist Office Space <br />Presenter: Joe Ruthenberg, Superintendent - Parks, Facilities <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br />Item: 7 <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this council action is to approve the construction of office space for the new <br />Communications Specialist position. <br />2. Background: <br />At the January 27 council meeting, the council approved the addition of a communication <br />specialist position. The hiring process has been completed with tentative start date set for March <br />13th. As this is a new position, office space and furniture is needed. Furniture purchase was <br />approved at the last council meeting. To accommodate this new position, office space in the <br />workroom will have to be renovated, a sprinkler head moved, and data port and electrical wiring <br />moved/added. Quotes for the renovations were solicited and received. <br />3. Scope: <br />The scope of this item includes demolition of cabinets and repositioning of counters (completed <br />by park & facility staff), adding a new wall to create a new office space, relocating a sprinkler <br />head, adding two new outlets to the new wall, installation of new data point wiring, painting, and <br />new base to the wall. <br />4. Cost: <br />Staff received three quotes for the work, DPG was the highest at $13,770.62, Carver Construction <br />at $7,275 and True Built Construction at $6,500. The True Built Constructions quote does not <br />include the addition of the two new electrical outlets or the moving of the sprinkler head, which <br />would have to be contracted out at an additional cost. Though True Built Construction's initial <br />quote is lower with the the additional cost of contracting a electrician and another contractor to <br />move the sprinkler system, Carver's quote will be less expensive overall.
