AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: March 10, 2025 <br />Title: Council Code of Conduct <br />Presenter: Adam Edwards, City Administrator / Engineer <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br />Item: 4 <br />Purpose: <br />The purpose of this item is to review a draft code of conduct and values statement for the Orono <br />City Council. <br />2. Background: <br />At the January 27 work session the Council provided guidance to prepare a draft code of conduct <br />based on the sample from the Mn Mayor's Handbook, and the example form the city of Red Wing. <br />Further there was an interest in having a values statement based on the example from the MN <br />Mayor's Handbook. Staff prepared drafts for each document for council's review and discussion at <br />the February 10 work session. Based on feedback at that meeting staff prepared the drafts at <br />exhibits A and B. At the February 24 council meeting Council reviewed the documents and <br />directed staff to add - "This code of conduct is intended to be a living document that reflects a <br />shared responsibility for maintaining a professional environment. It will be updated when and if it <br />is deemed necessary." <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Move to adopt the Statement of Values and Code of Conduct. <br />Exhibits <br />A.
