Attention Parents of Seniors <br />The next scheduled mcetm^ for Parents ot Seniors <br />planning the all-night party is Mondav, \ov<'mber 12 at <br />7:30p.m. in the high school cafeteria. All parents of <br />seniors are encouraged to attend. <br />If you can t be there in person and want to hei <br />please contact one of the chairpersons - lean Dettloff, <br />Carol Roland or Barb Dugan. <br />Essay Winners <br />Four Orono High School students eere winners in the <br />10th annual Minnesota Conservation Fssay Contest for <br />Hennepin County. Conservation specialist David Thill <br />presented the certificates and checks to Paul Spnngmeyer, <br />John Zietlow and Ben Carlson, first, second and third place <br />winners, respectively in the lunior division. When their <br />essays advanced to area comp*tition, john s placed first, <br />Paul ’s, second. These essays wca’ written as e\tra-crcs.iit <br />research papers in Dee Nelsian's Honors English class last <br />year. <br />Yan Qiu wrote his papH?r as an extra-credit pro|oct in <br />Advanced Placement English last year. His essay placed <br />fst in district, third in area, and second in the state <br />competition. He will be receiving his awards and checks <br />and reading his essay at the State convention December 2 <br />at the Minneapolis Marriott Oty Center. <br />' r* <br />Da\ id Thill %vith Paul Springmeyer, <br />John Zietlow and Ben Carlson <br />New Facility Update <br />The construction of the nine classrooms and <br />swimming pool facility is proceeding nght along after <br />being hindered this past summer with weather.
