Ne\ada <br />Q How is the Commission organized? <br />A nonprofit. ta.x-e.xempt corporation, the Com <br />mission appoints an e.xecutive director to implement <br />its policies and head its staff. Major staff activities <br />include: managing the accreditation prixess fmm <br />application throiu’h reaccreditation; recruiting, select <br />ing, training a coips of assessors in all of the >>tates; <br />promoting the accreditation program; maintaining <br />liaison with applicant, candidate, and accredited <br />agencies: and disseminating information. <br />Q From what sources does the <br />Commission derive its authority? <br />The Commission was founded by, e-xisis for the <br />benefit of. and derives its authonty from the law <br />enforcement community. The Commission is not <br />obligated to any governmental unit. This income defrays <br />the two major costs incurred by the Commission; <br />on-site assessment costs ipavrnenis to assessors for <br />their time, travel, and the like) and off-site costs <br />(staff salaries and travel, assessor training, <br />publication costs, etc.). Ohio <br />Q What is the ongoing relationship of <br />the Commission to the founding law <br />enforcement associations? <br />The Commission s Bylaws specify that the <br />associations are to appoint the members of the Com <br />mission. Each appointed member must have received <br />the unanimous endorsement of the four associations. <br />The executive directors of the four associations serve <br />as ex-officio advisors to the Commission.
