ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD NOVEMBER L3, 1990 <br />FLEXIBLE BENEFITS PLAN <br />Bernhardson stated that the Ci *r:y has reviewed, <br />revised and approved the plan. He sax. e would provide an <br />informational meeting for the employees in November and ask <br />them to apply for this benefit during the ixrst week in December. <br />We are also presenting information regarding the health plan <br />premium this evening so that can be taken into consideration in <br />conjunction with the flexible benefits program." <br />Goetten stated that she is pleased <br />become available to the City employees. <br />to see this program <br />It was moved by Acting Mayor Callahan, seconded by Goetten, <br />to adopt Attachments A and B as its plan for Section 125 program. <br />Motion, Ayes-4, Nays-0. Motion passed. <br />1991 HEALTH INSURANCE <br />It was moved by Acting Mayor Callahan, seconded by Peterson, <br />to adopt a contribution rate of $231.00 per month for family <br />health coverage for general employees for 1991. Motion, Ayes-4, <br />Nays-O. Motion passed. <br />1990 AUDITOR APPOINTMENT <br />It was moved by Goetten, seconded by Peterson, to appoint <br />the audit firm of Pannell Kerr Forster to perform the required <br />audits for the 1990 fiscal year at an estimated cost of $15,450, <br />plus direct expenses. Motion, Ayes-4, Nays-0. Motion passed. <br />ANIMAL CARE FACILITY <br />Bernhardson stated that Corcoran no longer wishes to provide <br />its services to any of the area communities. He said, "We are <br />recommending Reo Raj, located in Watertown, as an alternative." <br />Peterson noted that the letter from Carol <br />that kennel area at Reo Raj is unlocked. <br />Hansing stated <br />Chief Kilbo replied that the facility has an attendant 24 <br />hours a day and in that sense is unlocked. He said, "The City <br />had a key to access the Corcoran facility when it was <br />unattended." <br />Peterson asked if there is any liability on the City's <br />behalf should a dog be taken from the facility. She said, "I <br />know that dogs have been taken out of there by their owners." <br />Bernhardson stated that Staff would approach the personnel <br />at Reo Raj and discuss a possible need for more security. <br />Peterson asked if five days is an appropriate length ~ime <br />to hold the animals. <br />Chief Kilbo explained that there have been situationr <br />- 20 - <br />.:he
