Receipt of information rejarding the application process for <br />Councilmember selection. <br />2. Concurrence of Council with draft letter to be sent to <br />applicants in advance of the interview. <br />3. Set date for interview. <br />INTRODUCTION - As a result of Barbara Peterson's election as <br />Mayor, the Council position will be required to be declared <br />vacant following the effective date of the resignation. At the <br />Council's November 13, 1990 meeting they directed staff to <br />undertake the process of replacement. <br />DISCUSSION - The City has prepared Attachment B for submission to <br />the newspapers for publication and setting December 31, 1990 as <br />the application date for the position. It is the intent that for <br />all applicants the draft letter will be sent so that they may <br />prepare, in advance, their response to those questions so the <br />Council has a better idea as to their interest, background and <br />outlook on significant items coming in front of the Council. <br />At the November 13th meeting the general cor-rensus was that the <br />process should be initiated early but perhaps that interviews be <br />set for the 2nd meeting in January with possible appointment <br />either at that meeting or a subsequent meeting. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. Table <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by <br />‘ f, <br />seconded by that the Orono <br />City Council acknowledge the information regarding the selection <br />process and that the Council concur with the draft letter to be <br />sent to all applicants in advance of the interview setting <br />January 28, 1991 as the date for interviews.
