ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 13, 1990 <br />#1555 LANDSTAR, INC. <br />2501 OLD BEACH ROAD <br />PRELIMINARY SUBDIVISION <br />RESOLOTIOM #2900 <br />Mr. Dennis Sandin was present. <br />Mr. Norman Paurus, 2500 Casco Point Road, asked about the <br />one lot in this subdivision that will be zoned for commercial <br />use. <br />Bernhardson replied, "That lot is in a commercial zone. The <br />intent is to give that lot to the Freshwater Foundation." <br />Peterson asked whether there is any guarantee that the <br />Freshwater Foundation will take over this parcel. <br />Mr. Sandin replied, "I have a letter of <br />Foundation." <br />intent from the <br />Mabusth stated that Mr. Blanch, the property owner, is <br />giving this property to the Freshwater Foundation. <br />Peterson asked for a cost estimate for the bituminous <br />overlay. <br />Cook replied, "It will cost approximately $25,000 for the <br />two inch overlay and $20,000 for the one and a half overlay." <br />Acting Mayor Callahan asked what advantages exist for the <br />one and a half inch verlay versus the two inch. <br />Cook replied, "The only advantage over the two inch is that <br />you get more structural strength on the road. There has been no <br />testing to determine to what degree that occurs. The value at <br />this point in time is somewhat arbitrary." <br />Goetten asked Gerhardson for his opinion. <br />Gerhardson stated that a one and a half inc*^ overlay would <br />be sufficient. He said, "There is existing blacktop " <br />Mr. Sandin stated that he would accept the Public Works <br />Director's recommendation for an inch and a half overlay. <br />Peterson asked whether the City of Minnetonka Beach has <br />agreed to an inch and a half. <br />Gerhardson replied, "I believe that they do not intend to do <br />anything at this point." <br />Mabusth said, "I think they are going to ask for the <br />overlay. That is what JoEllen Hurr indicated the last time. She <br />- 8 -
