DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION <br />A. The bottom of trenches and beds shall be .it �hiroe feet above the <br />seasonal high water table or bedrick. <br />B. the bottom of the trench or bed excavation shall be level. The bottom and <br />sides of th- trench or bed excavation to the level of the top of the filter <br />material sr,.,l be scarified to remove smears left by the construction <br />equipment an footprints. All loose material shall be removed from the <br />excavation. The bottom of the excavation shall not be driven on or walked <br />on after scarification. <br />C. When the Soil perculjtion rate at the bottom of the trench or bpd is slower <br />than 15 minutes per inch, no vehicle or excavation equipment shall be <br />allowed on the trench or bed area. Excavation shall be by back hoe or other <br />means that allow the equipment wheels or tracks to remain on the surface <br />soil. <br />D. There shall be a layer of 6 inches of filter material in the bottom of the <br />trenches and beds placed as shown on the detail. Trenches closer than 10 <br />feet to trees, 6 inches or larger, shall have 12 inches of filter material <br />in the bottom of the trench beneath the distribution pipe. <br />E. Distribution pipe used in trenches or beds for gravity flow distribution <br />shall be at least four inches in diameter and constructea of sound and <br />durable materials not subject to corrosion or decay or to loss of strenqth <br />under continuo-isly wet conditions. The ends of each lateral shall be capped. <br />
