mm <br />Sept. li. <br />N1NU1ES <br />HIGHUAY \2 RELOCAriON COMMITTEE <br />(.Initial organizational meeting) <br />Preface: A group of approximately 25 Long Lake Citizens met at St. <br />Georges Church to organize an effort to prevent the routing of a <br />4—lane up*grade of Hwy 12 througl'i the city of Long Lake. At a preced <br />ing meeting of approximately 100 concerned Long Lake citizens at the <br />Long Lake Fireball ion September 5, 1930), a unanimous concensus <br />st'iowed the desire of citizens to form action committees with the <br />common goal of organizing! an effort to oppose the aforementioned <br />cJeve 1 op'fiient. fwenty—six p'eople signed up to p>art ic ip<ate in this <br />ef fort. <br />Voluntary contributions to support this action group totaled S273.13 <br />while ♦50.(I»(1» caine in during the following week, along with pledges of <br /><225.00. <br />in-The iiieeting was called to order by Dr. Mary Miller . Citizens at these tables were then asked to <br />elect two Co-Chairs and a Secretary and to brainstorm what they per <br />ceived their goals and priorities to be. After about 30 minutes, Dr. <br />Miller asked the several committees to name their officers and to <br />offer stated goals. -Beginning with the STEERING COMMITTEE, the table <br />named Or. Miller and Ed Peterson as Co-Chairs, Dale Behmer as Sec'y, <br />and Alice Peterson as Treasurer. Dr. Miller asked the attendees to <br />select a name for the group as a whole; the name HIGHUAY 12 RELOCATION <br />COMMITTEE was selected. <br />Sub—committees were theiT asked to name their elected officers and to <br />list any perceived goals without order of preference. <br />STEERING COMMITTEE: <br />1) Officers (listed above) <br />2) Goals: a.
