CCNTINUED <br />Bernhardson states that regardless of whether this property <br />is developed or not, the City intended to do an overly. With <br />this property in for subdivision, it was appropriate to wait <br />until afterwards. It was not the intent that any of the abutting <br />property owners help the developer pay for it. The only issue <br />might be that if the road were upgraded to include curb and <br />gutter and staff may explore that. Bernhardson's recommendation <br />is to give the developer conceptual approval at this point and <br />bring back to Council the road in.ormation as to what would be <br />proposed, the costs and the developer's share. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan states that Mr. MacKinnon is very <br />justified in feeling that he has met the preliminary <br />requirements. However, Callahan still thinks houses should not <br />be built there, period. He would like to ha e this set over for <br />two weeks and see if there is any information that suggests <br />houses should not be built there. <br />Goetten added that some of the other information needed <br />would also be provided ut that time. <br />It was moved by Acting Mayor Callahan, seconded by <br />CounciImember Goetten, to table this application to the October <br />22, 1990 Council Meeting. In that time, staff will gather <br />information on the questions that have been asked. Motion, Ayes- <br />4, Nays-0, Motion passed. <br />#1579 GARRY EVERSON <br />4755 NORTH SHORE DRIVE <br />VARIANCE <br />Mr. and Mrs. Everson were present for this matter. <br />Bernhardson reviewed this application and noted that this <br />request was conceptually denied at the September 24, 1990 <br />meeting. The applicant has worked with staff and is willing to <br />remove the deck so that there is a 10' setback from the property <br />line, bringing hardcover down to 49.9%. The applicant asks that <br />this be considered in the denial resolution. <br />Mrs. Everson stated, "We have less hardcover now than before <br />the deck went up. We think that is reasonable based on the fact <br />that the Council approved our neighbor's request to have 51/52% <br />hardcover based on the big driveway required to service both <br />houses.• <br />Acting Mayor Callahan asked if the neighbors request was for <br />an after-the-fact variance. <br />Mrs. Everson answered no. <br />Nettles replied that it seems they have made a good faith <br />effort realizing it is after-the-fact. "We are pursuing our <br />stated goal to reduce hardcover and are moving in that direction
