Determine if Council desires to select a site in order that <br />further architectural work can be done. <br />2. If the option site is selected, when to exercise the option. <br />3. Provide Council with any additional information regarding the <br />financial framework for the project. <br />INTRODUCTION - <br />As noted in Attachment A the Facilities Committee had made their <br />recommendation presentation at the workshop on August 23, 1990 <br />and recommended that the City select a site on Highway 12 as the <br />option and utilize the current Crystal Bay site as a park. It <br />was on this recommendation consideration that the Council at its <br />September 24, 1990 meeting decided to set October 22nd to discuss <br />site selection. Whether they desire to designate a site and <br />exercizk ' «^ption. The normal agenda notification was put in <br />the paper regarding this ituxu, ^•’t based on Council direction, <br />the proposed Mayor's Article was not placed in the paper. <br />Attachment C represents the notification sent to the Facilities <br />Committee members and Planning Commission members. <br />DISCUSSION - <br />Issue #1 - Site Selection - Soil borings have been completed on <br />the site in order to more accurately reflect the costs for the <br />site on Highway 12 together with updated estimates for well <br />systems should a combination of Crystal Bay site and the sewer <br />plant site be selected. As noted in Attachment E the cost <br />differential is approximately $120,000 between the two sites. A <br />primary cost option 1 is the cost of sprikler support on a site <br />without municipal water. The code requirement is that office <br />stru<ptures over 8.500 square _feet and sti^uctures similar to public worKs over 2^,000 square feet are required to oe sprinkled. <br />This cost could go up to an additional $240,000.
