.;�; :� <br /> .pL �<' <br /> O� . <br /> � � <br /> • O O <br /> � C ITY of ORONO <br /> s <br /> ,� , � <br /> , ti <br /> ��� ��,�' - RESOWTION OF T��C�ITY COUNCIL <br /> `�k'EsH.o�`' rvo. 7 . <br /> A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A <br /> � CONTINUOUS REGIONAL RECREATIONAL TRAIL <br /> ON THE DAKOTA RAIL CORRIDOR, AND APPROVING THE FINAL <br /> CONSTRUCTION PLANS FOR THE TRAIL <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono has consistently supported the preservation of the Dakota <br /> Rail corridor as a continuous public transportation corridor, and has strongly supported the <br /> development of a continuous regional recreational trail along the entire length of the Dakota Rail <br /> Comdor; and <br /> WHEREAS, Three Rivers Park District has developed a master plan for the development <br /> of a trail on the Dakota Rail Corridor that provides for a continuous regional recreational trail <br /> along the corridor; and <br /> • WHEREAS, a continuous trail will provide a much-needed safe alternative for <br /> pedestrian movement between the various Cities and amenities along the corridor; and , <br /> WHEREAS,Three Rivers park District has developed final construction plans for the <br /> trail and has requested the Cities along the trail to review and comment on the plans; and <br /> VVH�REAS,the City has reviewed the construction plans and finds the plans to be in <br /> conformance with the trai.l master plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the construction plans are, overall, as anticipated by the City,with the <br /> exception of the design of the railing on the Tanager Lake Bridge, and two potential drainage <br /> issues; and <br /> WHEREAS,we are confident the construction details can be addressed to the City's <br /> satisfaction. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orono City Council does hereby <br /> confirm its strong support for the preservation of the Dakota Rail Corridor as a continuous public <br /> transportation comdor and for the development of a continuous regional recreational trail on the <br /> Dakota Rail Corridor, and does also find that the construction plans for the trail are in <br /> conformance with the trail master plan and generally acceptable to the City. , <br /> • BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the City is confident the construction details can be <br /> worked out to the City's satisfaction. <br /> . .
