The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />assisting users across departments. <br /> Builds and manages the city’s social media profiles and presence including Facebook, <br />Instagram and other methods appropriate for the message and audience. <br /> Assist with the implementation of community engagement events and initiatives such as focus <br />groups, surveys, education, information presentations and other forums that foster public input. <br /> At the direction of city leadership provides local media with articles about specific city <br />programs or activities as well as periodic press releases to other media. <br /> Promotes a positive image of the city and encourages productive, effective relationships with <br />the public. <br /> Assists the City Clerk and Administration Department by providing periodic administrative, <br />election, and front desk back up support as needed. <br /> Performs other related duties as assigned. <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <br />Knowledge: <br /> English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including <br />the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. <br /> Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing <br />customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality <br />standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. <br /> Communications – Knowledge of best practice of communication sufficient to plan, design, <br />write and edit print and electronic communications materials or tools. <br /> Computers and Electronics – Knowledge of website standards and best practices sufficient to <br />develop and maintain websites and measure of ability. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, <br />graphic design software and social media platforms. <br /> <br />Skills: <br /> Reading Comprehension — Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related <br />documents. <br /> Active Listening — Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to <br />understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at <br />inappropriate times. <br /> Speaking — Talk to others to convey information effectively. <br /> Writing — Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. <br /> Coordination — Adjust actions in relation to others' actions. <br /> <br />Abilities: <br /> Written Comprehension — Able to read and understand information and ideas presented in <br />writing. <br /> Oral Comprehension — Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented <br />through spoken words and sentences. <br /> Oral Expression — Able to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will <br />understand. <br /> Speech Recognition — Able to identify and understand the speech of another person. <br /> Written Expression — Able to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will <br />understand. <br />35
