Stat. § <br />410.05, subd. 5. <br /> <br />Petition requesting <br />a referendum to <br />discharge the <br />charter <br />commission is <br />filed with city <br />clerk. <br />At least 5 % of the registered <br />voters in the city. <br />Commission is discharged if a majority <br />of the votes cast <br />support the referendum. <br />Another charter commission may not be <br />formed sooner than one year from the <br />date of discharge. <br />Establishing public <br />library service <br />(alternative to Minn. <br />Stat. 134.07). <br />Minn. Stat. § <br />134.08, subd. 1. <br />Upon sufficient <br />petition, council <br />must submit <br />question of <br />establishment or <br />provision of public <br />library services to <br />the voters at the <br />next general <br />election. <br />Not less than 5 % of the <br />number of persons who <br />voted at the last general <br />election in the city or <br />county. <br />If a majority of the votes cast on the <br />question are in the affirmative, the <br />governing body shall establish the <br />library or shall provide public library <br />service and levy an annual tax for its <br />support. <br />Discontinuing public <br />library service. <br />Minn. Stat. § <br />134.08, subd. 2. <br />Upon sufficient <br />petition, the <br />question of <br />discontinuance of <br />public library <br />service shall be <br />placed on the <br />ballot at the next <br />general election. <br />Not less than 5 % of the <br />number of persons who <br />voted at the last general <br />election in the <br />city or county. <br /> <br />Only applies if the public library service <br />was established under Minnesota Statute <br />§ 134.08, subd. 1. <br />If a majority of the votes cast on the <br />question are in the affirmative, the <br />library service is discontinued. <br /> <br />Starting mosquito <br />abatement program. <br />Minn.
