r <br />West Hennepin Recycling Commission <br />A Report <br />Spring 1998 <br />Contents <br />Past, Present, and Future <br />1997 Tonnage & Participation Tables <br />Hennepin County Compiu*ison Statistics <br />The Past <br />The West Hennepin Recycling Commission (WHRC) is a joint powers entity <br />among the cities of Greenfield, Independence, Long Lake, Loretto, Maple <br />Plain, Medina and Orono. The conunission was formed in 1989 to jfficiently <br />and effectively promote, educate, and administer recycling op^- tunities and <br />programs. Each city appoin. a representative to the commission to direct <br />and oversee recycling programs within the seven cities. Each city supports <br />the worV of the WHRC through an annual contribution. In i997 that <br />continuation, by city, was: <br />Actual cost to your City for WHRC in ‘97 <br />Greenfield $2,041 <br />Independence $ 3,508 <br />Long Lake $ 2,063 <br />Loretto $ 482 <br />Maple Plain $ 1,720 <br />Medina $4,013 <br />Orono $9,103 <br />1997 WHRC Expeiiditures $22,930 <br />There is one part-time recycling coordinator. <br />-Over-
