Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323-0066 <br />Attn: Local Board of Review <br />PID #06-117-23-14-0022 <br />To Whom It May Concern: <br />Unfortunately, I am going to be out of town April 26 so I cannot appear <br />in person therefore, I am writing you this letter. <br />When we moved into our house in 1991, after we remodeled, the market <br />value was $353,700 which reflected a steep increase, obviously because <br />of the remodeling. <br />In 1994 the taxes were based on $365,000 or a 3.2% increase which is <br />reasonable and equal to inflation. In 1995 we received notification <br />that the value had increased by $26,500 or 7.3%, which is well over <br />the 3% average inflation. In talking to your Assessor, Mr. Haller, <br />this is reasonable because of houses that have been sold on Fox Ridge <br />Road (which is one of the hottest areas in Orono) and therefore justify <br />that we increase our property taxes by $26,500. <br />I want to protest this. The burden of property taxes keep on piling <br />up. If it is tied onto the inflation, I have no problem with that. <br />What property is selling for depends a great deal on the area, when <br />the house was built, etc.. Mind you, our house was built in 1950 with <br />some remodeling and updates. <br />I would like you to consider this at your meeting and let me know what <br />I need to do. <br />Yours sincerely, <br />Henk Boon, Jr.
