Councilmember Butler moved the following resolution, <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 1107 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY <br /> ADMIrdISTRATOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT <br /> WITH THE WESTONKA COUNSELING FOR OLDER <br /> ADULTS FOR SERVICES <br /> WHEREAS, the elderly as a group experience a larger amount of <br /> emotional trauma due to losses such as death of spouse , <br /> reduction of income, social isolation, failing health, <br /> etc. and <br /> WHEREAS, Orono has elderly citizens that are vulnerable to dif- <br /> ficulty in coping with problems such as depression, <br /> anxiety, coping with a physical disability, feeling of <br /> grief, loss and anger, and <br /> WHEREAS , Suburban Community Services is organized under the laws <br /> of Minnesota as a Nonprofit Organization to insure the <br /> continuity of such services , and <br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to provide Suburban Co�nunity <br /> Services with adequate supplemental funds for its proper <br /> operation of its Westonka Counseling for Older Adulrs <br /> program, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of Orono has approved the inclusion of <br /> _ the Westonka Counseling for Older Adults program in its <br /> 1980 budget , and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Orono shall provide for the health, safety <br /> and welfare of its older citizens . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> ORONO, ORONO, MINNESOTA: <br /> That the Mayor and City Administrator be authorized to <br /> enter an agreement whereby, that Orono, as a political <br /> subdivision, be included in the provision of Counseling <br /> Services for Senior Citizeiis provided by Suburban Com- <br /> munity Services , that it participate in the benefits <br /> thereof, that it agrees to support a share of the cost <br /> of the provision of such counseling services , and that <br /> this sharing of cost in 1980 be for the period of <br /> January 1, 1980 through December 31, 1980 and be for a <br /> total amount of $2 , 570. <br /> A motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly <br /> seconded by Councilmember Paurus and upon vote being <br /> taken thereon, there were 3 yeas an p nays .
