Employee Recognition Survey <br />B. Breakdown of Employees by 5 year Anniversary <br />Dates <br />ISSUE - Initiation of a program to recognize employee's length of <br />service with the City. <br />DISCUSSION - As you are aware the City currently recognizes <br />employees for outstanding accomplishments but the City has no <br />program to recognize individual employees relating to their <br />length of service with the City. <br />Attachment A is a survey from 13 municipalities which list <br />recognition programs along with other employee activities. <br />Attachment B is a current list of employee anniversary dates <br />brokendown by 5 year anniversary dates starting in 1989 through <br />1994. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that the City of Orono develop <br />a policy for employee recognition which would recognize employees <br />length of service at 5 year intervals. This recognition could <br />include a Resolution presented to the employee at a regular <br />Council meeting or presented to the employee by the department <br />head. In addition if the City at some future time has its logo <br />•'•‘de into a lapel pin the length of service could be noted on a <br />special lapel pin and presented to the employee. <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />Mayor and City Council <br />Mark E.
