Date: December 9, 2024 Item: 8 <br />Presenter: James Van Eyll, Fire Chief <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Title: Hire Firefighter <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />This action aims to gain approval to hire a part-time firefighters. <br />2.Background: <br />The Orono Fire Department is currently seeking part-time and paid-on-call firefighters. <br />3.Recruitment: <br />The selection process for the position involved advertising the position, application screening, an <br />interview and background check. The interview was conducted by the Fire Chief and other fire <br />officers. The applicant also successfully completed the necessary psychological and Physical (Pre- <br />employment medical) exams. <br />4.Recommended Candidate: <br />Paul Wilson is just starting his career as a firefighter. He is enrolled in the firefighter academy. He <br />is excited to become a charter member of the Orono Fire Department and he looks forward to <br />creating the best department. <br /> <br />5.Recommended Compensation: <br />I recommend Paul Wilson for a conditional job offer as a part-time firefighter with an effective <br />start date of December 10, 2024. <br />Pay.
