CONTINUED <br />Mabusth asked the Planning Commission co explain any <br />concerns they have regarding this subdivision for the benefit of <br />the applicant. <br />Bellows stated that one of her concerns is the proposed <br />ex .ation which would occur in a wetland area. <br />Rowlette stated that she was concerned about the lot line <br />rearrangement that is proposed with Lafayette Ridge owners. <br />is V <br />* noted that the purpose of the lot line rearrangement <br />e additional boat slips for Lafayette Ridge. <br />ir. c.rence to the proposed excavation, Mabusth asked the <br />Planning Commission whether they would recommend that the <br />applicant file a separate Conditional Use Permit and Variance <br />application. Mabusth asked, "Would the Planning Commission <br />consider a compensating excavation in Orono's protected <br />wetlands/flood plain area to mitigate filling done in a protected <br />area in another City?" <br />Johnson asked the applicant to provide additional <br />information regarding the excavation. <br />Mr. Kudnicki explained that the Minnehaha Creek Watershed <br />District requires the compensation for a wetland area that is <br />filled. <br />Kelley asked Mr. Sandin what position the Freshwater <br />Biological Institute has regarding the disturbance of the wetland <br />area. <br />Mr. Sandin replied, "I received a letter from Marty Jessen, <br />President of the FWBI, which indicates that they have no <br />objections to disturbance of the wetlands provided that <br />construct'Oi does not occur." <br />Bellows read the letter from Mr. Jessen. She said, "I do <br />not interpiet this letter to mean that the Freshwater Foundation <br />approves of the proposal to excavate the wetlands." <br />Kelli • asked Mr. Sandin whether Mr. Jessen has been <br />specified y apprised of the proposal. <br />Mr. San^ ‘ indicated that he has proviJf^d a sketch plan to <br />Mr. Jessen. <br />JoEllen Hun said, "I have talked with wr.
