VOA! <br /> •O <br /> Minutes <br /> City Council Work Session <br /> Tuesday,November 12, 2024, 5:00 PM <br /> es, ` City Council Chambers 12780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> City Council members present: Mayor Dennis Walsh, City Council Members Alisa Benson, Richard <br /> Crosby, Maria Veach. <br /> Staff present: City Administrator Adam Edwards, Police Chief Correy Farniok, Fire Chief James <br /> VanEyll, and City Clerk Christine Lusian. <br /> PUBLIC SAFETY UPDATE <br /> Administrator Edwards introduced the work session topic of public safety goals and metrics to <br /> include police and fire and invited Chief Farniok to begin. Chief Farniok provided an update on <br /> calls, response, investigations, arrests, warrants, and community engagement (over fifty <br /> community engagements events per year) with Wednesday through Saturday afternoons and <br /> evenings being the department's busiest times. Chief VanEyll provided an update on number and <br /> types of incidents, calls, response, duties, mission, vision, values, and goals with Monday and <br /> Thursday evenings being the busiest times. Fire department responsibilities include fire code <br /> enforcement,plan reviews, burn and event permits, response data analysis and planning, business <br /> risk reduction(pre-plan), training, and community engagement(over fifteen community <br /> engagement events per year). Pre-plan work includes learning and documenting details about <br /> addresses so that responders know the facility and occupants and are prepared to respond <br /> properly for the unique situation at that property. Chief Farniok noted that he and Chief VanEyll <br /> meet regularly to collaborate on public safety initiatives,joint training, events, response, <br /> efficiency. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> Work session ended at 5:32 p.m. <br /> ATTEST: CITY COUNCIL <br /> Christine Lusia , 'ty Clerk Dennis Walsh, Mayor <br />
