Minutes <br />City Council Regular Meeting <br />Monday,October 28, 2024, 6:00 PM <br />City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />Benson proposed delaying interviews for Park and Planning Commissions to see if the City receives more <br />applications and delaying goal-setting discussion until January. <br />Benson moved, Johnson seconded, to approve the Work Session Schedule as amended. VOTE: <br />Ayes 4, Nays 1 (Crosby). <br />5.Rental License <br />Johnson moved, Crosby seconded, to table the rental license application until Nov. 12. VOTE: Ayes <br />5, Nays 0. <br />12.Hire Firefighter <br />Johnson moved, Crosby seconded, to approve the conditional job offer to Chris Brooks at a rate of <br />$20 per hour beginning Oct. 29, 2024. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 1 (Benson). <br />13.Replace Turnout Gear Extractor <br />Johnson moved, Crosby seconded, to accept the quote from RJ Kool for the Turn-Out Gear <br />Extractor for $13,545. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 1 (Benson). <br />17.Grant –Pickleball --Resolution 7522 <br />Benson pointed out the grant, if approved and accepted,would require the City to repurpose the land in <br />perpetuity for its zoned use which is residential,which would have a financial impact and so should have <br />public input. <br />Crosby moved, Veach seconded, to adopt Resolution 7522 to apply for an Age-Friendly Minnesota <br />Community Grant. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 1 (Benson). <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />20.Alcohol License <br />The City Council is requested to review the Staff report, receive a presentation, open a public hearing, and <br />discuss and adopt the resolution adopting an alcohol sales application for a new restaurant. <br />The Council discussed the item and asked questions of staff and the applicant, Talavera Mexican <br />Restaurant, 2160 Wayzata Blvd.W. <br />Mayor Walsh opened the public hearing at 6:17 p.m. <br />There were no public comments <br />Mayor Walsh closed the public hearing at 6:17 p.m. <br />Crosby moved, Johnson seconded, to approve the liquor license as applied. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />6
