LAKE MINNETONKA CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICE. A U.S. Coast Guard approved personal <br />flotatloii device must be worn by all persons operating or riding on a PWC. <br />AGE OF OPERATION. State of Minnesota statutes govern operator age <br />for PWC operation. State statute requires that, except in case of an <br />emergency, no person under the age of 13 years shall operate or be <br />permitted to operate any personal watercraft over 24 horsepower unless <br />there is present in the watercraft, in addition to the operator, at least <br />one person of the age of 18 years or over. No person 13 years of age or <br />over, but less than 18 years of age, may operate a PWC greater than 24 <br />horsepower, without possessing a valid operators permit issued by the <br />commissioner of Natural Resources, unless there is a person 18 years of age <br />or over in the PWC. <br />LMCD Lake Use Committee Chair Bob Pillsbury, Minnetonka, credits <br />subcommittee chair Bert Foster, Deephaven, and the entire committee and <br />board for their support of enacting this important regulation on behalf of <br />maintaining a quality recreational experience on Lake Minnetonka. <br />Complete copies of the ordinance are available through the LMCD, <br />402 E Lake St, Wayzata 55391. 473-7033 <br />XXX
