Responsibilities included organizing a water quality task <br />force, working with farmers to implement conservation practices, educating the <br />public about environmental issues affecting the region, and managing office <br />operations. <br />RESEARCH APPRENTICE: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural <br />Research Service, University of Minnesota Branch (June 1989 - Dec. 1989). <br />Responsibilities included permeability testing, bulk density analysis, dye tracing, <br />and data input, manipulation, and interpretation. The research is to be used in a <br />paper on the effects of roots on pore and cracks and their influences on the <br />hydraulic properties of soils under normal and compacted conditions. <br />LABORATORY TECHNICIAN: University of Minnesota Soil Testing Laboratory <br />(Sept. 1987 • June 1989). Responsibilities include soil sample preparation, plant <br />sample preparation, determination of soil phosphorus levels through both Bray and <br />Olsen tests, and soil pH measurement. Results are used ti> make fertilizer <br />recommendations for farm and lawn/garden soils. <br />INTERESTS & HOBBIES <br />Interests include tennis, downhill skiing, bicycling, music and reading. <br />References available upon request. <br />i
