Gerharoson, Acting Administrator <br />March 9# 1988 <br />SUBJECT: Petition - Soliciting and Peddlers <br />On March 2, 1988, the City of Orono received a petition from <br />local businesses requesting the City to review its soliciting <br />ordinance. In particular the complaint is because of the "Rose <br />Man" that is selling flowers on County Road 15 across from the <br />Calvary Church by Dunwoody Avenue. <br />Also Included is information from 1985 when this matter was <br />brought to the Council. It was Council's decision at that time <br />to not amend the ordinance as long as the person selling was <br />complying with the ordinanccj. To date that person is still <br />complying. <br />For your information we have conducted a brief survey of <br />neighboring communities and that information is included. <br />Be advised that the construction of County Road 15 will most <br />certainly restrict this type of activity for the summer of 1988. <br />At this writting I do not know if any of the petitioners will <br />In attendance at this Council meeting. <br />Recormendaticn - To review the material Included and to dvise <br />staff of the Council's wish^- on the matter.
