<br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br /> <br />Position Title: Accountant / HR Representative <br /> <br />Document Date: 6/22/2023 October 28, 2024 <br /> <br />Department: Finance <br /> <br />Accountable to: Finance Director <br /> <br />FLSA Status: Exempt <br /> <br />Union Status: Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local <br />No. 12, AFL-CIO <br /> <br />Nature of Work <br />This position is responsible for preparation, maintenance and analysis of financial records <br />ensuring compliance with internal and governmental standards and procedures as well as <br />performing human resources and parole payroll functions. <br /> <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />This position reports to the Finance Director. This position does not have any direct reports but <br />does provide oversight of employees responsible for basic daily accounting functions, financial <br />records maintenance and billings within the city. <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that <br />may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the <br />work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. <br /> Provide general financial accounting duties for development and control of financial records and <br />reports. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information. Prepare financial <br />reports, analysis, and grant reporting. Provides professional assistance to both internal and <br />external customers of finance. <br /> Responsible for on-boarding of employees including coordinating the application process and <br />entering employees in timecard application and benefit enrollment site. <br /> Responsible for Payroll function including, processing checks, filing and paying all taxes and <br />withholdings, processing W2’s and filing year end forms with the IRS and State of Minnesota. <br /> Responsible for basic Human Resource functions including FMLA administration, updating <br />employment forms to ensure accuracy and legal compliance, tracking required training, filing <br />Workers’ Compensation claims and complying with mandatory posting requirements. <br /> Assist with benefit administration acting as the liaison between employees and benefit providers. <br />67
