Orono Crime Prevention Memo Dated 4/4/90 <br />ISSUE - <br />1. Determine if Council will authorize a change in name. <br />2. If Council will authorize the appointment of an organizing <br />committee. <br />3. Determine if Council will authorize the organizing committee <br />to: <br />A. Incorporation and publishing <br />B. Nomination of first Board of Directors for Council <br />approval. <br />INTRODUCTION - AS noted in Attachment A the Crime Prevention Fund <br />has been "limping" along and has solicited money and worked with <br />the 3oard of Directors but has never been formally incorporated. <br />Renewed interest in the Association has assisted in moving this <br />issue forward and it is now at a point that it would require <br />Council approval to enact the changes needed to fully incorporate <br />a Board. <br />ALTERNATIVES - <br />1. Adopt the recommendations as presented. <br />2. Table for further discussion. <br />3. Choose not to approve one or all of the three. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that the Council adopt the <br />recommendations outlined in Attachment A regarding: <br />A. Name change to "North Tonka Crime Prevention <br />Coalition" <br />B. Appointment of a an organizing committee <br />C. Authorization for the organizing committee to <br />complete the incorporation and nominate a Board of <br />Directors for Council approval.
