'«(: <br />RESOLUTIOH DECLARING EARTH DAY HEEK <br />APRIL 22, 1990 IN THE CITY OF ORONO <br />WHEREAS, the week of April 22, 1990 marks the 20th <br />anniversary of the first Earth Day; and <br />WHEREAS, Earth Day was established to bring recognition <br />of the needs of the environment and that the unfeddered <br />consideration of development had previously had its negative <br />impacts on the environment; and <br />WHEREAS, human development globally has reached the <br />point where that development has had significant impacts on <br />certain parts of the environment; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has been a leader in <br />protecting the natural environment, wetlands and other water <br />resources during the last 20 years making development a positive <br />and not negative force in the envirionment; and <br />WHEREAS, a week such as Earth Day Week is an opportunity <br />to make people more cognizant of protecting the environment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Orono <br />declares the week of April 22nd to be Earth Day Week in the City <br />of Orono; and <br />FORTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that the City encourages people <br />not only be cogniznat of it, but in recognition plant a tree in <br />their yard in conjunction with Earth Day and Arbor Day. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the C ty of Orono, <br />Minnesota at a regular meeting held April 23, 1990. <br />James R.
